cummings_98596_7.JPGDetroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings announced her retirement today through a live news release within minutes after Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded guilty to two counts of perjury and resigned from office. Her retirement is immediately effective according to a written statement by her spokesman, James Tate. Bully-Cummings has offered to assist her successor with transitioning if she is asked to do so. She served 31 years on the Detroit Police Department and was the first female police chief of Detroit.

  • Bully-Cummings was related to Kilpatrick money mishandling from his first term. If I am not mistaken, she was the one who had her name on the Navigator papers when it was purchased. However, I don’t know if she was aware if the money was from the city budget.

    And for the record, they need to get rid of damn City Council. They’re more scandalous than anybody in the state.
