The United States Mint launched a new coin Tuesday featuring jazz legend Duke Ellington, making him the first African-American to appear by himself on a circulating U.S. coin. Ellington, the composer of classics including “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” appears on the “tails” side of the new D.C. quarter. George Washington is on the “heads” side, as is usual with U.S. quarters. The coin was issued to celebrate Ellington’s birthplace, the District of Columbia. U.S. Mint Director Ed Moy introduced the new coin at a news conference Tuesday at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. Ne-Yo Spoke with Rihanna, Wants to Talk to Chris Brown
When Ne-Yo found out about the allegations of violence between Chris Brown and Rihanna, he knew he couldn’t get the story from a third party. Concerned for both his friends, the singer wanted to speak to them personally. On Monday afternoon (February 23), a still-stunned Ne-Yo offered his thoughts. “I wanted to talk to them before I made a comment,” he said about the much-publicized incident that occurred several hours before the Grammy Awards on February 8. Brown turned himself in to police during the awards show and was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats and released. “I spoke to Rihanna. She says she’s fine. She didn’t go into detail about what happened. I understand it’s a painful situation; I didn’t push.” Like so many of Rihanna’s fans, friends and family members, Ne-Yo said he was grief-stricken after viewing the recently leaked photo of a bruised and apparently battered Rihanna shortly after her altercation with Brown. Alan Keyes: Remove Obama or United States Will “Cease to Exist”
Right-wing Republican Alan Keyes is back at it again, lobbing criticisms at President Obama that are more caustic than constructive. he former U.S. ambassador and presidential hopeful is renewing his charge that President Obama was not born in the United States.
