outkast1Yesterday, Michael Jackson announced to the world (well, London anyway) that he has a few more concerts left in him there. Then he’s out. Finito. Done. Much to the dismay of fervent Jackson fans, Michael insisted to the Londoners that after his round of performances in July, he will fade to the background.

All of which got me thinking: What one living musician or group or act would you have to go see on the “farewell” tour? For me, it’s a three-way tie between Outkast, Jigga and Thriller; for obvious reasons of course, but mainly because my song catalog (and iTunes) count are highest on those artists. Call me a front runner. At gunpoint, I’d have to go with the ‘Kast. Being an Atlanta native and lifelong resident, it couldn’t be any other way.

What artist(s) would you drop the dough on?

Hmmm…. I would have to go with Marvin Gaye. Wait…they have to be alive and current right? Michael. No other artist has more memorable songs and longevity. Maybe Ronald Isley. Michael Jackson, my final answer.

  • I’d definitely have to say New Edition! I’ve been to six concerts and I’m 28! Michael Jackson is on my list as well ;) I am in the military and stationed in Bahrain and was ecstatic when I originally chose the assignment as I thought to myself, “wouldn’t it be cool to run into MJ?” Too bad he isn’t there anymore!

I’d have to go with Jay. Too many hits, too many recollections attached to them. My posthumous choices would be Tupac Shakur and Jimi Hendrix. I would have been thrilled to see them do their thing on the stage. It’s a shame that they both had to go out so tragically.

  • Yes i would go see MJ.
