Fox television series GLEE has another reason to celebrate; famed R&B singer Eve will appear on the new show, according to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello. Eve will play a “no-nonsense girls’ choir director from a rival school.” The Grammy Award-winning singer will appear in a two-episode arc. Ausiello had earlier reported that Superstar Whitney Houston had been in early negotiations to play the role, but Houston ultimately turned the offer down. L’Oreal Found Guilty of Racism in Shampoo Ads
L’Oréal, the French cosmetics giant, was found guilty today of racial discrimination after the highest court in France heard that executives had sought an all-white team of sales staff to promote its shampoos. La Cour de Cassation was told that Garnier, L’Oréal’s beauty products division, tried to keep black, Asian and Arab women from selling its Fructis shampoo in French supermarkets. Adecco, the temporary recruitment agency whose Districom division hired the hostesses, was also found guilty of racial discrimination. 5 Remaining Jena Six Cases Near Conclusion
Five of six black teens accused of beating a white high school classmate in a case that led to the biggest civil rights protest in decades will plead guilty in a deal expected to be finalized this week, Louisiana court officials involved with the case told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The six students were initially charged with attempted murder in the 2006 attack on Justin Barker and became known as the “Jena Six,” after the town where the beating took place. Charges against Carwin Jones, Jesse Ray Beard, Robert Bailey Jr., Bryant Purvis and Theo Shaw were reduced to aggravated second-degree battery. (Continue Reading…)
