In 2008, Arlenis Sosa walked into Marilyn Agency and signed on the spot. Since then, she has covered a slew of glossies and closed both the Diane Von Furstenberg and Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 shows. The Dominican model was recently interviewed by Latina magazine discussing her career-launching meeting with Vogue’s Anna Wintour, her meteoric rise in fashion and her coveted friendship with fellow model, Sessilee Lopez. Sosa says, “Models need to stick together, especially the black models, whom people are always accusing of being too competitive.”

Reminiscent of model friends Tyra Banks and Kimora Lee Simmons, Sosa and Lopez share as godmothers to Jourdan Dunn’s new baby boy. Commenting on the alleged rivalry, Sosa adds “The important thing is that black models are doing it big now.”

I wonder if this is an attempt to extend her hand out to Chanel, hmmm….I heard that there was a rift between Sessilee and Chanel. Made me so sad, because I think they’re both great. All four really. That i-D cover they all did will be blown up and framed. That’s exactly how it should be.
