India.Arie recently took to Twitter calling Lady Gaga and Beyonce’s “Telephone” video socially irresponsible. Arie says, “It’s not long before somebody does a straight NAKED video.”

The singer says she digs Gaga’s creative mind stating however that she “disagrees with the choices as a dish meant to be served for mass consumption.” India.Arie asks, “When is it too far?”

So what do you think? Does the “Telephone” video take it too far? Or is this what can be expected from Gaga?

Quite a number of you said basically said what im thinking. If you don’t like it move on.
She wasn’t the only artist/person in the entertainment field that had something “bad” to say about the video, but IT”S LADY GAGA for GOODNESS SAKE. I was not surprised @ all the video and she is an entertainer. And somethings are not for everyone and somethings are not meant to be taken literally. Someone in their right mind would understand that is for entertainment only and not condoning anything other than that. If you don’t like it so much ignore it.

and on a side note, Lady Gaga didn’t have this eccentric image before she broke out into the industry; She was pretty conservative.

Unfortunately, the music industry is backASSedwards lol what ever looks good goes first, talent comes later.

  • The video is a bit much if you ask me. I mean dang BeYonce sometimes you need to keep Sasha in the house with you and Jay boo!

Just when I thought Paparazzi was extreme she topped it off with Telephone! The video was indeed a bit much. I respect India’s opinion, but that’s just the society we live in, musicians, actors, directors, even artists in museums are always pushing the envelope.

And the content of the video is the reason it didn’t air on MTV right? (Or did they change that and air it? I’m not sure)

Anyway definitely wouldn’t let my kids watch it!

What do I think? Lady Gaga is a CLOWN; I love Acoustic Soul; but, I think this chick is bordering on jealous hata!

Arie should have directed her “too far” and “socially irresponsible” commentary at all those black male rappers that (LONG AGO) began peppering their joints with b!tch, h0, jump off and the n-word while spilling fake Cristal on bootie-short clad girls. Hell, they popularized that sh*t, took it worldwide and contributed to a negative view some may have around the world.

Of course it would be nice, but I agree entertainers have zero obligation to be socially responsible. I’m hardly a prude but I simply don’t listen to/invest in rap or hip hop that is garbage and feel it up to parents to regulate what is consumed in the home.

On another note I often sniggle when, for example, someone (who has sold 8 million) fixes their lips to talk sh*t about a woman who has won 16 Grammy Awards and sold 100 million.

India.Arie is right about eventually people making a buck naked video and calling it entertainment; these are role models for young girls today whether they like being role models or not. We knew back in the day that our entertainers were OUR role models and we danced and listened to their songs as well–Stevie Wonder, Michael (JacksonRIP, and others—what makes it so sad today is that music is and always was very influencial and im hearing that 1 out of 6 teenage girls has an STD like HPV that can cause cancer..(because the lesions are on the cervix) in girls where it can’t be seen and most of the songs today are just about *********thats mostly it except for very few……..
