Where were you last year when you heard the King of Pop died?

Did you received the news via text message? Did someone run into the break room at your office screaming the news in shock? Were you walking down the street and heard a series of MJ hit blasting, and wondered what could be up?

I remember being at a photo shoot and the photographer ran up to me showing a text from his girlfriend that read: “Michael Jackson is dead.” I nearly cursed him out thinking it was another silly prank. I yelled, “Michael Jackson is NOT dead, this is not funny!” I told myself I needed a television. I ran into the office lounge and there it was. Reporters on CNN said Michael Jackson was in cardiac arrest. By the time I got off the train the news was confirmed: “The King of Pop dead at 50.” I cried like I lost a family member. I didn’t leave the house the entire weekend.

Today marks the first-year anniversary of the King of Pop’s untimely passing. Fans and fellow celebrities alike choose to reflect on this somber day by remembering why we loved Michael Jackson. Although Michael was gone too soon, we have his everlasting music that will live on forever.
