For those who don’t know me, my name is Dede Sutton, the founder of CLUTCH and COCO & CRÈME. I know it’s been over a year since I peeked my head out from behind the site, and said hello. I decided since today the launching Coco & Crème ushers in a new chapter for us that I’d come out, say hello and a big thank you!
Since launching Clutch online in 2007, you have welcomed and strongly supported the growth of Clutch and I couldn’t be more grateful for you all. What we have accomplished with your love and encouragement is nothing short of a miracle. As most of you know – we are not funded and, we’re not a gossip site, and in the Internet game; those two factors are usually the ingredients for a successful site targeting young women of color. This is now debunked with your help.
The idea to launch Coco & Crème was created about six months ago when I noticed a trend in our reader surveys that a lot of you requested more fashion and beauty pieces on Clutch. I wanted to find a way to honor your request but keep Clutch’s content more lifestyle and commentary based– that was launching Coco and Crème.
Over the next few months we will be asking for your feedback and making site design changes to make sure we make your experience on C+C just as pleasurable as Clutch.
Again, thanks for the love and support! I personally promise to continue creating websites and initiatives that aid in the positive and real image of young contemporary women of color.
Side note: Thanks Andrea of Fly for creating our very ‘”fly” logo!
