Fantasia Barrino breaks her silence on her suicide attempt. The singer reveals she purposely intended to take her own life when she overdosed on aspirin and sleeping aids.

The singer says in her “Behind the Music” VH1 special, “I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything.” The 26 year-old says, “I just wanted out.”

Fantasia’s “Behind the Music” airs tonight. Excerpts of the interview on People.com further details the “America Idol” winner’s most difficult time in her life. On her “home wrecker” allegations, Fantasia shares, “I don’t think I would stand for going in and breaking up somebody’s home.”

The North Carolina native says, “I can’t thank my fans enough for their prayers and support during such a challenging time.” Fantasia states this has given her motivation to get back to work promoting her latest album “Back to Me.” “I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much I as do.”

The singer performed live on “Good Morning America” today.

  • These are the days that controversy can lead to success. So if this was all a big stunt, I wish her all the best. It may not be the moral high road but we live in a dollars and cents world. At the end of the day, that album needs to sell, by any means necessary. Do your thing Fantasia, and I’m always praying for you! I’m already in love with the album!

Seems to me that the suicide attempt was just a publicity stunt. She’s sick in the head.
