Mos Def and Jeffrey Wright appeared in Suzan-Lori Parks’ Broadway play “Topdog/Underdog” in 2002, and “Cadillac Records” in 2008, now the brilliant actors team up again to star in a Lincoln Center Theater’s production of John Guare’s play “A Free Man of Color” in New York City.
“A Free Man of Color” tells the story of Jacques Cornet—played by Wright—who is an early 19th century resident of New Orleans. The cast also includes actor Paul Dano and will be directed by George C. Wolfe.
According to the New York Times, the production was originally post-poned for financial reasons and is now set to officially open just in time for Thanksgiving on November 18 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Previews begin on October 21.
