One of the youngest siblings out of the renowned family with jokes, 38 year-old Marlon Wayans is set to star in a biopic on the legendary comic Richard Pryor.

An opportunity that is certainly any young Black comedian’s dream, Marlon will begin shooting “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?” next year. Directed by popular director Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls, “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”), the project is backed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and is likely to generate the buzz of earlier biopics such as Jamie Foxx in “Ray” and Will Smith in “Ali.”

The film will undoubtedly put Marlon’s dramatic abilities to test. Pryor wasn’t all stage and jokes; the controversial man of laughs had many faces, from drug use to his numerous marriages—seven walks down the aisle to be exact. Without question, Marlon will nail Pryor’s classic jokes, but can the Wayan’s brother capture the complexities of one of Black America’s most talented and misunderstood characters?

Marlon just signed with the all powerful Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and will star in the sequel of “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”

Are you looking forward to seeing Marlon Wayans as Richard Pryor? Can he pull it off? Sound off!

  • I think most black comedians have proved to have more depth and span for roles like this. I think Marlon can do it.

  • I think Marlon Wayans will do an excellent job. In “Requiem for a Dream” and “Above The Rim” he showed that he can do more than just comedy and do it very well.
