I know what you’re thinking, “Not another Nicki Minaj post!” But this one is really cool.
In the newest issue of Ebony Magazine, celebrity photographer, Derek Blanks, shoots the 25-year-old femcee in a very eye-popping six-page spread. One of the biggest acts this year, Harajuku Barbie literally transforms into a larger-than-life monster who terrorizes the streets of New York City. Just call her Queen Kong.
Photographing Nicki as a monster is quite fitting. She’s had a humongous year. Not only did she rap her way into the history books, being the only female rapper to have seven hits on Billboard’s Top 100 (and all before releasing her album), she’s also built a legion of little Barbies who are poised to keep her at the top.
Onika Maraj has come a long way, baby. The Trinidadian native has gone from slinging mixtapes on Jamaica Ave. in Queens, N.Y., to signing with one of the top labels in hip-hop today.
In the December/January issue of Ebony Magazine Nicki dishes about Drake, Dress Up, and Dating.
