Flavor Flav was once looking for love. Now, the best way to get to his heart is through his stomach. With a bucket of fried chicken.
The former rapper for Public Enemy opened his own fried chicken restaurant in a small town in Clinton, Iowa on Monday. The venture was streamlined by him and Peter Cimino, a business partner that he accordingly met in Las Vegas, the Clinton Herald reports.
“My chicken ain’t no joke. I ain’t scared to go up against the Colonel, tastewise,” Flav said in a YouTube video of the restaurant’s opening.
Flav was not just there to help give the restaurant a celebrity sighting or a grand launch—he plans to work at the restarurant regularly to draw in customers.
“You’re going to find me in here working. … You’re going to catch me in here seasoning up my chicken, flouring up my chicken, frying up my chicken. And not only that, but coming out here and serving my chicken to people,” he said.
Where did Flav get his big break in the food industry? The rapper told SaukValley.com that Cimino had him sell his chicken wings at Mama Cimino’s Pizza in Las Vegas and positive feedback led to the launch in Iowa.
Flav is a 51 year-old rapper from New York who claims that his product tastes like “deep down southern fried chicken”. He is well known for his appearance on the VH1 reality series “Flavor of Love” and “The Surreal Life”.
