You can credit the fashion reality show, Project Runway, for discovering several formidable talents in design including Mychael Knight. Hailing from Atlanta, the designer received critical acclaim on the show for his keen understanding of the feminine silhouette and his modern yet dramatic design aesthetic.
Knight is just as well-liked for his personality; he was voted the fan favorite during his season and has since made cameos on popular shows like Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta.
His latest collection lives up to the hype. At Charleston Fashion Week, Knight presented a line of luxury separates and dresses for the Fall 2010 season. The collection is rooted in monochromatic color with head-to-toe all white or black looks, distinguished by dramatic ruffles and sexy mesh details.
Knight named the line, Carte Blanche, which means “the power and authority to do as one wishes” to signify his free and fearless approach to design. The pieces call for a woman that personifies the Carte Blanche mentality; she’s sexy, self-possessed and in complete control of her life and look.
Several celebrities have stepped out as Mychael Knight Carte Blanche women wearing jumpsuits, dresses and even leotards from the collection.
Khloe Kardashian was photographed for YRB Magazine wearing Knight’s embellished lace leotard.
Toni Braxton wore his white bodycon dress with ruffle detail on the neckline to the Braxton Family Values celebration party at London Hotel in West Hollywood.
Finally, Laurie-Ann Gibson was featured on Bitchie Life (above) in Knight’s black bodysuit with mesh insets.
