Jazz great Etta James has been hospitalized for a potential deadly infection.
News of the singer’s latest medical battle came today as her son, Sametto James, told The Riverside Press-Enterprise that his mother “was admitted to an undisclosed hospital earlier this week to treat a urinary tract infection and sepsis.”
While sources cannot confirm which Southern California hospital the star has been admitted to, Etta who resides in Woodcress, California was hospitalized as year for the same problem. Sepsis is an illness where bacterial overwhelms the bloodstream.
Earlier this year, Sametto’s brother Donto James went to court with her husband, Artis Mills, to dispute Mills control of her assets for payment of her medical care. The latest reports are saddening news as the jazz legend has long struggled with her health. Etta has been diagnosed with leukemia, dementia, kidney problems and has had other ailments plague her through the past several years.
We are sending our prayers and best wishes for Etta and her family as they face this trying time.
