Mariah Carey did it. Tia Mowry did it too. The nude pregnant pic is a popular photo op for women who want to commemorate their pregnancy and the natural, earthy and wondrous feeling it evokes. But when do those seemingly ubiquitous pics get trashy?

It’s argued that the nude pregnant pic reached its pinnacle of popularity when Demi Moore was photographed on the cover of Vanity Fair in 1991. Since then, a record number of celebrities including Britney Spears, Christina Aguillera, Claudia Schiffer, Melissa Joan-Hart, Mariah Carey and Tia Mowry have all taken photos for magazines—not to mention the exhaustive list of everyday women.

In essence, I think a nude pregnant photo has the potential to capture a monumental moment in a woman’s life. On top of the sheer beauty most women emanate with their glowing skin and full head of lustrous hair, pregnant ladies seem to have a nurturing aura about them that’s completely natural. In my opinion, when done right, nude pregnant pics can capture that aura. But there are also times when the photos are downright trashy.

What do you think of nude pregnant pics? Are they classy or tasteless?

I also don’t see anything wrong with posing nude pregnant, but the pics should be kept private. It was cuttinh edge when Demi did it, now it’s just in bad taste. Those pictures of Nick and Mariah are disturbing and gross to me. The two of them as parents is honestly disturbing too…I hope the have a really good team of help.

It depends on the celebrity and the media outlet featuring the photos. Pregnant photos of supermodels and A-list celebs/ pop stars in reputable fashion/culture/ society mags, like VF, Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, W etc., are classier than pregnant photos published in tabloid rags like Life and Style, US Weekly, Star, etc., which tend to feature low rent reality show stars, D-listers and the like. Mariah’s pics looked cheap, and it baffles me why someone with her resume wouldn’t have posed for a higher end glossy.

    Oh, and Happy Mother’s Day!

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but i don’t understand why these celebs feel the need to pose naked for public viewing? I don’t find it distasteful or offensive but I don’t see why they feel the need to do it. Most of them, normally would not pose naked but pregnancy gives them a reason to??. I’m sure Tia (pre pregnancy) would not entertain the idea of posing naked if the same magazine.
