We haven’t had an addition to the WTF files lately, and this one definitely fits the bill.

Two hearing impaired men were stabbed over the weekend at a Florida nightclub after their sign language conversation was mistaken for gang signs.

During a conversation between Sean Shuland, 33, and Alfred Steward, 31, fellow club-goer, 45-year-old Barbara Lee suspected the two men of being gang members “throwing up” rival gang signs.

According to CBSNews.com, Lee reportedly confronted the men, then left the club to get back up, recruiting two men—18-year-old Marco Ibanez and an unnamed minor—to attack Shuland and Stewart. After returning to the club just before 5 a.m., a fight ensued and the two men ended up being stabbed.

The club’s security guard was also injured in the melee after Lee allegedly broke a champagne bottle and sliced both his hand and his head.

Police have charged Lee and Ibanez with aggravated battery for the attack.
