If the set is telling of a collection, then it is clear that Diane von Furstenberg’s was meant to be loud and urban-inspired, with speakers lining the runway and black and white graffiti adorning the entire space. The collection is just that, with the clever title “Wrapsody Rap”, combining her signature wrap dress with a hip-hop sensibility.
The pieces are chock full of bright colors and prints and they have a fun and youthful energy. “Hip-hop feeling with a romantic edginess” is how the collection is described by Creative Director Yvan Mispelaere (Style.com). Athletic-inspired separates including biking shorts, mini skirts and shorts with drawstring waists and sweatshirts are shown, clearly influenced by the street, though not taking “hip hop” literally. The romance comes into play with the fluidity of the silhouettes and fabrics, pastel colors including rose pink and chartreuse and the general ease of the collection.
Fans of Diane von Furstenberg including Rosario Dawson, Estelle and Zoe Saldana will look perfect in this collection and we cannot wait to see how they wear the looks in the coming months.
