What do Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Teri Hatcher, Halle Berry, and Kim Basinger all have in common? Being a Bond Girl.
Playing the part of James Bond’s leading lady is one of the most coveted roles for any Hollywood starlet looking to catapult her career. The notoriety and the widespread exposure has proven a boost for many of today’s biggest stars and one British actress may be next in line.
According to reports, actress Naomie Harris is currently on the top of the list to be the next Bond Girl in the upcoming, tentatively titled, Bond 23. The actress is best known stateside for her roles in “28 Days Later” and the second two of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. If she lands the part, Harris would join James Bond Daniel Craig in the upcoming franchise film.
Though sources say that Harris is in talks for the role, there has been no official confirmation on her inking a deal from either her rep or MGM studios. In the past year, MGM’s financial woes had set the new Bond project behind schedule, but with talks picking back up it seems things are back on track.
While this is definitely exciting news, the film looks to be at least another year away. Filming for the project is not seen to get off the ground any sooner than this fall.
It’s hard to say whether Harris is a shoe in for the role given the number of names that have swarmed around in rumors pertaining to the identity of the next Bond Girl. Both Frieda Pinto and Megan Fox have been mentioned as possible fits as well. There is however one woman we know for sure will to return. Dame Judi Dench is said to be locked in and confirmed for the next installment of the spy film.
