While Lebron may still be feeling sour after the Miami Heat’s Game 6 loss, it’s a good bet that at least one basketball star who’s been partying ever since.
Dallas Maverick’s star DeShawn Stevenson was arrested Tuesday night in a Texas suburb for being too drunk for his own good. According to Sports Illustrated, the guard from Fresno, California was cuffed and booked when local cops found him a few drinks too far into a celebratory bender.
Police in suburban Irving, Texas, say Stevenson was arrested Tuesday night after reports of an intoxicated person walking through the grounds of an apartment complex. Police say Stevenson didn’t know where he was and he was arrested after field sobriety tests.
Stevenson played a major role in Dallas’ championship run and brought the fight to Lebron, D. Wade and company’s doorstep every night. A known trash talker, the 30-year old also shook things up off the court with his less than complimentary comments about LBJ’s much publicized and debated decision to take his talents to South Beach.
Following his altercation with the Heat bench during Game 6, Stevenson was seen celebrating the next day in a shirt that read “Hey LeBron! How’s My Dirk Taste?” and made many Miami fans feel as if the guard was simply adding salt to the wound.
It remains to be seen if his arrest will affect his contract terms for next season with Dallas, but I have a feeling Mavs fans and the franchise owner, Mark Cuban, won’t mind him taking his celebration a little too far.
