Blazing temperatures and a need for retreat make a getaway to the beach sound better than ever! But a banging body, towel, umbrella and magazines aren’t the only items that should be on your checklist of beach items. Check out these beauty essentials that every woman should carry in her summer beach bag.
Tinted Moisturizer with SPF
Even if it’s not your intention to lay out to soak up some rays for a little added color, you can bring a gorgeous glow with you to the beach by applying a tinted moisturizer with SPF. The light texture of tinted moisturizer is perfect for hot days near the shore because they’ll give your face a warm, even finish. For all-over shimmer, mix a dime-sized amount of the moisturizer with your sunscreen and apply it all to the rest of your body.
A Scarf is usually a go-to Fall/Winter accessory, but it could also be a statement-making, multipurpose Oceanside beauty accessory. It could be tied around your hair to keep flyaway hairs or bangs from falling in your face, or it could be used as a bathing suit cover-up. If you don’t want show the goodies, or have any accidents where you stain or damage your swimwear, just whip it out and you’ve got a chic solution to your problem.
Waterproof Eye makeup
I’m not one of those women who has to rock a face full of makeup at all times, but sometimes I like to highlight features, like my eyes during beach visits. There’s something about having demure yet, accented eye makeup that creates a laid-back yet glam look. Try lining top and bottom lash-lines with waterproof eyeliner and finishing with waterproof mascara. If you prefer not to line your eyes just apply a few coats of mascara, so you can have pretty peepers when you bat those lashes at attractive bystanders.
Sunburned skin is far from attractive and it’s painful to cope with, and yes, it happens to people of color. Just this weekend a co-worker of mine went to the beach and neglected to apply sunblock to her shoulders—she’s now sunburned and suffering through the burning irritation. I reminded her of what I tell all of my sometime stubborn friends “Black folks need sunscreen too!”
Enhance your sexy by adding a pop of color to your lips and cheeks with a tint. A tinted color will last longer than a powder or liquid because it’s less likely to melt or run and won’t wipe off as quickly as a powder. And you get the best of both worlds because they work well on lips and cheeks.
