Let’s all state the obvious: when Fox talks about Fox & Friends, they generally do not mean inviting Nancy Pelosi and Michelle Obama over for crumpets and tea.

That said, the network has for years defended itself against allegations that it is a right wing talking piece, sticking to their slogan, “fair and balanced.” Well, this week, two of Fox’s evening anchors, Greg Gutfeld and Bob Beckel admitted they felt hesitation in fully covering Sarah Palin because she is also employed by Fox News (allegedly to the tune of over $1 million dollars).

On their show, “The Five” the two spoke about the fact that they felt awkward discussing any negativity involving the former Alaskan Governor. Gutfeld said:

“The only problem with talking about Sarah Palin is that she works here, and it’s like a coworker,” he said. “And if I say something bad and I see her in the hallway I feel really awkward and wrong. So I just kind of say, ‘that was a good job!'”

Beckel, a former Democratic strategist, then chimed in saying:

“It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with your paycheck. That’s why you feel awkward. I know exactly what you mean. I’ll be honest, I’ve pulled my punches.”

So there’s that.

It’s important, if only to keep informed of opposing views. When I was a journalism major We were taught to read even the New York Post, which by all is considered to be a tabloid, simply so that we saw the same issue from all sides.

    • Totally agree Stella.
