Kanye West has done his share of collaborating from footwear with Louis Vuitton to scarves with M/M Paris and George Condo. Now, the rapper/producer cum fashion trendsetter is said to be working with Giuseppe Zanotti on the footwear for his Spring 2012 women’s collection set to debut at New York Fashion Week next month.

It seems that Kanye has already been very active in Giuseppe Zanotti’s factory. Here is what the footwear legend had to say about Mr. West:

“Kanye is always here in my factory. In the last three years, he has come here maybe every month and worked with the employees 10 to 12 hours a day. [Kanye] loves learning about shoes, both the design and construction, and we’ve tried to design something together. In a couple of months, he could have his own special collection out.” – Giuseppe Zanotti

Based on his predilection for amazing footwear and the shoes that he has dressed his muses aka his exes in, the collection is sure to be dazzling. Here is what we can expect from the collaboration:

1. Color

As shown above, Kanye loves color. Despite Fall’s neutral and dark tones, he will not steer clear of presenting pieces that are loud and eye-catching.

2. Sky-high heels

If the footwear worn by his ex-girlfriends Alexis Phifer and Amber Rose are any indication, “the higher the heel the better” is Mr. West’s mantra when it comes to women’s footwear.

3. Retro references

We have seen him in everything from snapback hats to 80’s style colored denim. Kanye may definitely go for some retro references as far as footwear whether it be colorblocked pumps, athletic-inspired platform wedges or perhaps a new-age version of the skippy.

4. Originality

Even when Kanye samples in his music, he makes his new track original. We can expect this same thing in his footwear which will surely look like nothing else in the market.

What do you think of Giuseppe Zanotti designing footwear for Kanye West’s Spring 2012 collection? What would you like to see from the collaboration?
