When Drake sat down with Canadian music site Much Music to discuss his upcoming “Take Care”, which will be released in October, he revealed a rather surprising collaboration. In addition to Lil Wayne, Nas, J. Cole, Rick Ross, and The Weeknd (the Frank Ocean-y dude who sings about cocaine, syrup and sex with White women, albeit over some cool tracks), Aubrey has also managed to snag Stevie Wonder for his sophomore release.
After headlining his OVO (October’s Very Own) Fest and being joined by Wonder on stage for six songs, Drake told RapCity host T-Rexxx that it wasn’t very hard to get the icon to collaborate with him.
“Stevie Wonder is a very close friend of mine. I’m honored to call him a friend, someone who embraced me very early in this music business,” he said, adding that the 61-year-old helped him out greatly when putting together the new record. “He helped me out with a lot of the music, just came and sat with me, listened to my music, told me where I could add a couple things to make it more sonically appealing, and not only that but we actually are writing together, which is an incredible experience.”
You know…this is just one of those things I can’t quite wrap my brain around. I don’t dislike Drake, but um…a Stevie Wonder co-sign is kinda major. I know dude did a couple of guest appearances for Snoop and Busta Rhymes, I just didn’t really see the man behind “Talking Book” sitting around working on the new Drizzy. Maybe we can expect some great things this time around…wait, has Wonder heard Drake sing though?
