The reign of newly crowned Miss Universe, Leila Lopes, may be threatened behind new allegations that the Angolan beauty may have cheated her way to the top.
Initially, she came under fire from fellow contestants Miss France and Miss Philippines, accusing her of being unworthy of the crown. Now, Argentinian newspaper Infobae issued a report Thursday alleging that Lopes was permitted to participate in the Miss Angola competition for UK based Angolans, despite that she has never lived outside of Angola.
According to the report a man named Charles Mukano assisted in the falsification of documents, which identified Lopes as a student of business management at a British school, hence the UK connection. In addition, the news story cites reports from Angolan media alleging that Mukano may have bribed judges in England to ensure Lopes’ win.
There’s no word from Miss Universe officials at this time.
