Former pro football player, Matthew A. Cherry, knows a thing or two about reinventing yourself. After retiring from the NFL in 2007, the former wide-receiver decided to make films. After working his way up from being a production assistant on many commercial shoots, Cherry decided to tell his own story.
Cherry’s new film, The Last Fall, is semi-autobiographical and follows a man who was cut from his fourth team in three years. After watching his dream slip away, Kyle (Lance Gross) decides to move home to get his life together. Back home he reconnects with his first love and decides to build a life with her and her son, but other factors–her son’s father and a promising job offer–threatens to pull them apart.
The Last Fall was written and directed by Matthew Cherry and stars Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Harry Lennix, Keith David and more.
