Looks like things just went from bad to worse for Vybz Kartel.
The popular dancehall artist, born Adijah Palmer, was charged with yet another murder yesterday. During a hearing in which Kartel was to answer for conspiracy to commit murder and gun charges stemming from the death of promoter Barrington “Bossie” Burton, Jamaican officials charged Kartel with the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Kartel, who is known for his violent and sexually explicit lyrics, has been in custody since September 30. After his initial arrest, police searched several of his homes and found a burned, decomposed body. Although police haven’t located Williams’ body, they believe the decomposing body they found is Williams. Jamaican police also think Kartel is involved with “a number of murders, shootings and gunrunning.”
It seems like the 35-year-old artists has been very busy these days. Along with launching his line of skin bleaching creams and a now defunct condom line, if reports these charges true, Kartel has also been a major player in Jamaica’s crime scene. Police think he may be involved in crimes stretching from St. Catherine Parish to sections of St. Andrew Parish.
You’d think with all of his successes Kartel would leave the violence and criminal activity of his past behind, but it looks like he’s continuing his quest to be Jamaica’s top shotta.
Kartel isn’t the only artists who’s gotten in trouble while famous. Why can’t artists seem to move on from their pasts?
