Two weeks ago while performing in Paris, singer Keri Hilson experienced her own ‘Bodyguard’ moment when an overzealous fan jumped on stage and tried to steal a kiss.
(fast forward to the 3:40 mark)
Although her security team was quick to respond (and even punched the man in his head and took him DOWN), many are wondering how he even got on stage in the first place.
Certainly Keri isn’t the first to experience an overly excited fan. Earlier this year Rihanna was grabbed as she walked out to perform on the Today Show, and years ago tennis star Monicia Seles was stabbed a stalker.
Even though the situation was scary, Keri took it in stride. After a fan tweeted that she was attacked by a “psycho guy,” Hilson tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt.
RT @EmmaHollyFierce: Psycho guy tried to kiss Keri OMG!!!!! <<–no, his intentions were good! But I was def caught off guard.
She went onto say: “To the guy who ran on stage & stole a kiss, I LOVE YOU TOO. Didn’t appreciate how u were handled. But next time, enjoy from the audience”
“I just learned that dude jumped from the 2nd story balcony for the task…ok, so maybe he was a lil crazy! Just jokes. I love my fans, yo!!!”
In an interesting note. I was tipped to the story by someone reading Sandra Rose’s blog (why, they read that garb I dunno.). S.R.’s headline was “Keri Hilson Almost Raped Onstage!’ which was not only false, but completely overblown. When bloggers who have a large platform minimizes the seriousness of rape by labeling what this fan did as an attempted rape, it makes it THAT much more difficult for women (and men) who are victims to be taken seriously. Just saying.
I’m glad Keri was ok in the end and her security team was on their J-O-B.
