After her knock-down-drag-out fight with fellow Love & Hip Hop cast mate Kimbella, newcomer Erica Mena claims that VH1’s editing team ruined her career. According to the 24-year-old video model, the network unfairly made her look like the bad guy during the altercation.
She told TMZ, “My whole image in my career is now affected by this. I wanted them to pull this clip because I don’t want to show this side of me.”
Now, call me crazy, but editors can only work with what you give them. So if Erica is looking to blame anyone for her unladylike behavior it should be herself. But did the folks over a VH1 unfairly posit her as “the bad girl” to amp up the drama factor? Perhaps.
At the end of the day, however, we are responsible for our own actions. If Erica and Kimbella wouldn’t have been acting like lunitics–throwing glass and pulling each other’s hair–neither one would be wondering how their cat fight affected their career.
But maybe it’s just me.
What do you think? Is VH1 to blame for ruining Erica’s career?
