Former NBA baller Shaquille O’Neal is on a full court press tour these days promoting his book, Shaq Uncut: My Story.
A few weeks ago we told you that Shaq discussed his failed marriage to Basketball Wives star and HWIC (head wife in charge), Shaunie O’Neal. In his memoir, Shaq writes about his infedelity and that he never “disrespectfully” cheated on her.
“At one time my ex-wife Shaunie and I were happy, but I admit it–I was a guy. I was a guy with too many options. Choosing to be with some of those women, well, that’s on me. In my mind, I never did it disrespectfully, but obviously I shouldn’t have done it all.”
Since getting a divorce and retiring from the game, Shaq says he’s a new man. He’s been in a relationship with former Flavor of Love contestant, Hoopz, for some time now and it sounds like Shaq is finally trying to get it right.
“You know as well as I do relationships are about maintaining… It wasn’t the big stuff, it was the small stuff, and that’s my fault,” he wrote in the book. “I had things to do. I was trying to win, trying to make some money. I admit I wasn’t the best partner. I just didn’t know how. I’m learning now.”
Recently, Shaq sat down with HipHollywood to discuss his book and clear up what he meant by cheating respectfully. Apparently, it boiled down to not knowing how to be a good partner.
While I think that most people need to be taught how to be a good partner (and it’s obvious Shaq needs more people), I don’t think it’s an excuse to cheat…repeatedly. But maybe it’s just me.
What do you think of Shaq’s explanation?
