Halle Berry is the latest celebrity to lend her endorsement to a fashion line with her the launch of the “5th Avenue by Halle Berry” collection for German company Deichmann Shoes. Bucking the super-high stiletto trend, the line will feature forty designs including wedges, low heels, and flats, with a focus on wearability and versatility. Of the collection, Berry says:
“Women have always loved shoes. It’s like if your hair is not right and your shoes are not right, the woman is not right. If both of them are right, you’re pretty much OK … And I’m a girl that loves to change my shoes all the time. It’s an expression of who you are really. I’m a girl if I find a shoe that I really like I like to get them in all colours. I’m big on that. I would say I’m a nude girl because this goes with everything. You can dress it up and dress it down. I can’t think of any girl who wouldn’t want her name on a brand of shoes. I think that’s pretty cool.”
A glimpse at some of the shoes featured in her recent commercial taping for the line don’t exactly scream the kind of glamour that Halle’s endorsements for Revlon or her fragrance collections have, but I’m sure that a mainstream approach to fashion is a good fit with the intended audience. The line will be available in Europe starting in March with designs starting at £29.99.
