I’m convinced, Google really is trying to take over the world. Today the company that runs just about everything already, announced they are working on a new project: glasses.
Google announced their ambitious next initiative, Project Glass, on Google+ earlier today:
A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.
The Washington Post called the specs “Terminator-style” glasses that would allow wearers to harness the power of the internet right before their eyes, and the company claims they will revolutionize how we use technology.
Google’s glasses will, perhaps one day, take the place of your phone and allow you to talk, text, and find directions from the eye wear. No hands required.
While the proposed functionality of glasses looks quite amazing, I wonder how practical they will be in the real world.
What do you think? Would you buy a pair of Google Glasses when they’re available?
