Back in 2005, Tia Williams launched one of the first successful beauty blogs, Shake Your Beauty. Before Tia became a beauty-blogging guru, she worked at various national magazines such as YM, Elle, Glamour, Lucky, and Teen People.

She published her first novel, The Accidental Diva in 2004 that was nominated for an African-American Literary Award. She went on to publish three more books including: Iman’s The Beauty of Color, It Chicks and Sixteen Candles.

In 2009, Tia took a break from being a beauty blogger to work as the Beauty Editor of Essence.com. After two years at Essence, she has re-launched her blog, Shake Your Beauty.

Her blog continues to be a haven for introducing her readers to products and showcasing the stories of artists in the world of beauty. Also, she shares her experiences with motherhood, relationships, hair, fashion, and family.

When the 36-year-old beauty blogger isn’t writing new posts, she’s living in Brooklyn, taking care of her 3-year-old daughter.

In April 2012, Tia along with her two sisters, Devon and Lauren introduced The Fly Cut, the first and only daily deal website exclusively offering discounts to top black hair salons. Fly Cut covers salons specializing in weaves to natural hair.

Right now, the daily deal website is only available for New Yorkers. They plan, however, to branch out to Washington, D.C, Houston, and Atlanta.
