Black women put a lot of effort into finding the perfect shade of red lipstick but in 2012, we’re off that. Tangerine is officially the shade of the year and if you haven’t found a way to perfect this color on your pout, now is the time.

The great thing is that tangerine comes in all shades from frosty peaches to bright neon oranges and that means it’s no biggie to find the right shade—or two—to complement your skin. With a little trial and error, you’ll have your go-to sherbet shade in no time. Here are a few tips to help you before you hit up the makeup counter.
