I get it. It’s hard to accept yourself at times. As someone who is often very critical of herself, getting to the place where you accept all of your past mistakes, f–k ups, and missteps isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely necessary.
Recently, I tackled the subject of regret. Like fear, regret has the ability to derail our goals and dreams. By constantly looking backward and doing the “shoulda, woulda, coulda” dance, we rob ourselves of being able to focus on the future.
If you find yourself looking backward more than you peer forward, hit a quick spin and turn around. As Henry David Thoreau said, “Never look back unless you are planning to go.”
