While the debate between positive programming and salacious reality TV shows on BET rages on, Bravo is moving right along with its fifth season of the runaway hit, “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” The network released a trailer on last night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” which promises the same brand of trash talking and back stabbing that made the program popular to begin with. It’s noteworthy that castmate Sheree Whitfield is no longer a part of the cast and they’ve added castmembers Kenya Moore and Porsha Stewart.
Among the regular girl fights, we see rare positive moments like Greg declaring his love for estranged wife, Nene Leakes and the budding relationship between Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker. One of these couples appear to get married on the show. But the drama of the season seems to hinge on a love triangle between Phaedra Parks, her husband Apollo and newcomer, Kenya. Kenya and Apollo are seen flirting in several clips, while Phaedra looks on disapprovingly.
The “Real Housewives” franchise isn’t known for portraying women in the most flattering light, but that doesn’t keep people from tuning in each season.
