When you think of Solange Knowles’ style, natural hair looks and mixed prints ensembles come to mind. But Solange is also a fan of eclectic and bold jewelry, experimenting with spectacular pieces by old and new designers.

Solange indulged her love of great jewelry recently by curating a collection for Lady Grey jewelry, founded by Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader. Solange previously wore a cuff from the designers, who won the “Designer of the Year” International Award in Accessories from Gen Art in 2009, to the 2012 Metropolitan Museum of Art gala.

Here are some of Solange’s favorite pieces:

Are you feeling them, Clutchettes?

    At the risk of showing my lack of sophisication here, what does “curate” in this situation mean? Is Solange a spokesperson, evaluator, what? I’ve seen this story on other sites and no sarcasm intended, I really have no clue.

      It means she “edited” or picked out the items that would be used for this collection. People tend to throw that word around a lot in fashion these days. Basically she was shown designs and she picked out the ones she liked. She may have made a few changes and gave her opinion.

      @Eve thanks! :)

      You’re not the only one. When I think of curators, it’s always of people who travel the world looking for, acquiring, and organizing pieces in a museum exhibition. I can’t tell if Solange is doing any of that or just opining on a collection that’s already designed (therefore already belong together). I wouldn’t really consider her a curator if it’s the latter. Meanwhile, I love her dress, and I’d wear some of the pieces if they weren’t expensive (which probably means I won’t be wearing any of them).

    I’m inspired by how she is employing and being noticed for her creativity: Music, DJ, Fashion, Home Fashion (loved her Elle article on her home), and Art.

    If she weren’t the sister of someone famous, no one would give her the time of day. Lot’s of women have more swag than her and don’t get their props. Not hating, just stating the obvious.

  • Love the pieces. She’s just working her jelly and makin’ money even if she didn’t do the dirty work.

    Those pieces are gorgeous. Remind me of some really old styled jewelry, like…Cleopatra old.
