ABC’s “Scandal,” is not only popular, it’s historic. The show, which follows Olivia Pope, the powerful yet vulnerable head of a crisis management firm, made history by casting the first black female lead in 38 years in a primetime television drama.

Oprah is documenting this groundbreaking moment in TV with an episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” solely dedicated to the popular show. She will interview the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, lead actress Kerry Washington and the inspiration behind Olivia Pope, Judy Smith.

Judy opens up about famous clients including Monica Lewinsky and Kerry talks about the significance of being the only black female lead on primetime since Diahann Carroll on “Julia” almost forty years ago. Shonda speaks about her storied career and what’s behind her “no a**holes policy.”
