The divorce and custody battle between Deion and Pilar Sanders has gotten a little resolution. Yesterday a Texas judge awarded Deion full custody of his two sons, ages 11 and 13, and joint custody of his 9-year-old daughter. Deion will have the sole right to determine where his three children live, and  will make all educational, health and extracurricular decisions for his two sons, ages 11 and 13, and share that responsibility for his 9-year-old daughter with his estranged wife, Pilar Sanders.

“I’m thankful; I’m elated,” the father said before leaving the courthouse in McKinney. “In any war, there will be casualties, but I didn’t want the casualties in this case to be my kids.”

Pilar on the other hand told reporters she was “flabbergasted” at the result of the trial but not surprised. Her attorney Larry Friedman said they will appeal the decision.

The aspiring actress and model said the judge did not allow testimony about the April 2012 domestic dispute that landed her in the Collin County Jail. She said her estranged husband laughed on the witness stand and showed little respect for the court.

The jury in the case consisted of 7 women and 5 men. They heard various testimonies about the involvment of both parents in their children’s extracurricular actives. Issues of both parents being self-absorbed came up, as well as Pilar’s accusations of physical abuse.  It only took the jury 2 hours to return with their verdict.

You know you’re up against racist haters and sexists when a majority female jury hands your kids over to Deion!

The race card is not going to work here. You’ve tried you hardest. Have you noticed the Deion Sanders is also black? You also fail at the other card because the majority of the jury is female.

Stanley, it’s not ‘the race card’, duh. It’s just the truth. People can be racist against their own race, just as Clutch itself has had articles talking about how black women are sometimes treated by our own men, and some commentators on here first wisely brought up the Black racists that congregate on Youtube who hate Black women. So Deion being Black has nothing to do with Pilar being a victim of a racist , sexist jury.

  • The is such a twisted perspective, and every time I hear it, it just boggles, the idea that girls need their fathers less than little boys do is ludicrous. If anything, they probably need them more than boys do. I learned how I should be treated by men from my father and uncles. My male cousins, nephews and my brothers learned how to treat women from their mothers and aunts. To this day I will not date a man that doesn’t have a close relationship with his mother, because often times, so much is lost on them. I had an uncle that told me when I was about 19 and asking for advice about some guy I had just started dating, that the way a man treats his mother is indicative of the way that he’ll treat you.

All that being said, there’s no reason why joint custody wasn’t awarded of ALL the children, not just the little girl, and really, he’s just setting that little child up for all kinds of crap what with the feelings of rejection she’s about to face for a long time. And can we just keep it real here? Cause we know those boys are going to be raised by nannies, housekeepers and Deion’s female relatives.

  • I don’t know jack about the parents, but my heart lies with the children. For their sake, I hope this really was the absolute best decision for them.
