JanetJanet Jackson (Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty) has officially joined the billion dollar entertainer club. The pop princess from the famous Jackson clan has amassed enough money from her albums, tours, acting and endorsements to earn that third comma on her lifetime earnings statements.

Variety reports that the “Control” singer racked up $458 million from concert tours,  $304 million from acting, $260 million from album sales and $81 million from endorsement deals.  Not bad, Ms. Jackson.

The LA Times rightly points out though, that these impressive numbers do not mean that Janet Jackson is a billionaire. This means that she has earned over a billion dollars in her career. We can assume that she has spent, invested, saved and given that money through out her career.

So, is Janet Jackson a billionaire from her current assets? Not clear. But what is clear is that she has racked up an impressive array of accomplishments and she is married to cutie pie sho’ nuff billionaire Wassim Al Mana.

Whether she is currently a billionaire from her own accomplishments alone or not, it’s clear that Janet Jackson is a very accomplished woman who has made quite an impact on pop culture. Salute.

I love Janet, and I am happy for her success, and I definitely think that she is worth it…but I want to see the receipts. If Janet’s acting career had netted her $304 million, you would expect to see her on Forbes highest paid actress list at some point…

    • Understand the post. It says that her career i.e. her attachment to products, movies, music, etc. has generated a billion+ dollars.

Reread my comment, I never questioned whether or not she was currently a billionaire, I questioned whether or not the numbers used to determine her wealth were accurate.

Janet Jackson is a hard working artist who achieved a lot, but what I like the most about her is that she never flaunt her success, her money to others’ face. She doesn’t sing about how rich she is, like it makes her important or more than anyone else.

Rather its a billion or 300 million the lady is still ballin, and that sound you here is Jermaine continuing to call.

Janet Jackson is not a billionaire. Her movies, concerts and albums have groosed that much money but only a small percentage of that went to her. Will Smith’s films and other projects have grossed over a billion dollars also but he is not a billionaire either.

  • She’s only been in 6 or so movies. Unless she made 50 million from each one (from Poetic Justice to For Colored Girls), it’s impossible she made more than 300 million from acting. I think this article covers how much revenue she has generated, not how much she has been paid.
