2012 MTV Video Music Awards arrivals in Los Angeles, California

Miley Cyrus’ neverending journey to appropriate hip hop culture continues. The former Disney star recently graduated from twerking to rapping. She posted a video of herself rapping in the studio with French Montana for a remix of his song, “Ain’t Worried About Nothin’.” Much like the twerking video, the rhyme was forgettable but if you are so inclined, you can read the lyrics below:

On the day I dropped my video
I got three thick girls in my video
Got that molly and you know that I never stop
Think I’m turnt up wait until my album drops
Versace, Versace, Versace
Fashion week you can find me in New York
Posing for the paparazzi
In my all-white like French Montana
Oh sh–, there goes Hannah Montana

Sigh.

The interesting part happened when Miley was hit with an onslaught of criticism from Twitter users following the release of the video.

She responded by tweeting:

“#BANGERZ will be an INSTANT CLASSIC. I know what color my skin is. You can stop with the friendly reminders b—h.”

We wonder if one of those reminders came from Sharon Osbourne.

  • I don’t think it is necessary Miley’s race people are protesting too. But the fact that A) she looks unauthentic and B) as the #solitaryisforwhitewomen mention she has the privilege to do this and have it be called “fun, young and finding herself” but when the shoe is on the other foot and if it was Rihanna, Willow, or another nonwhite artist then they are bad influences, need to think about the kids, be role models, etc. If she wants to be the “ratchet white girl…oops wait she claims she is not ratchet but works really hard…” then do you boo but if you and your team is trying to market this image to a sector of people then they have the right to give feedback. Finally, the rappers that is co-signing her says a lot about them.

And no Miley, nobody thinks you’re trying to be Black. But you are swagger jacking and doing it all wrong. In my Riley voice: Real recognize real, and right now you looking real unfamiliar!
