Johnny Howard, owner of Smokin’ Joe’s Ribhouse in Rogers, Ark, had some explaining to do after he posted a racially insensitive sign that pissed off his customers.

Howard decided to post, “Obamacare America’s punishment for slavery years.” The sign was only up for 45 minutes before it was was taken down and replaced with one that said “Why cook? Get some carry out,” after several people complained.

“I apologize for the sign. It’s offending people, as it did,” Howard told 40/29 News.“I didn’t intend for it to be racist-oriented at all.” According to Howard his sign was merely a misunderstanding and wasn’t directed towards the president, but about the Affordable Care Act.

“It’s the policy and I made the mistake of wording it in the wrong fashion. The policy. It’s not the person it’s the policy,” he said. “To me this health care plan is a job killer. I myself will have to eliminate at least one location if all the policies that were written originally go through.”

Howard said he has learned his lesson and plans to keep his political opinions to himself moving forward.

Rogers is in Benton County, which is part of the NW region of Arkansas were there are very few Black people. The city of Rogers is 1.3% black. Interestingly, the city is currently 31.5% Latino. NW Arkansas, SW Missouri, and NE Oklahoma, has some of the highest concentrations of white supremacists in the USA. If those people say the man went too far, than indeed he did.

  • I really wish people (and by people, I mean everybody) would stop calling it Obamacare. It is the Affordable Care Act, however since they (politicians) will do anything to discredit our president, his name will continue to be attached to everything they disagree with regardless of how the “American” people could possibly benefit.

Johnny Howard, the proprietor, as well as people like Rush Limbaugh, have pretty much admitted that they feel White America deserves some punishment for slavery, or they would not have made that connection.
