Lupita Nyong’o has been named People’s Most Beautiful Woman!
Though she grew up thinking that “light skin and flowing, straight hair” made women desirable, World’s Most Beautiful Woman Nyong’o, 31, tells PEOPLE that her mother “always said I was beautiful. And I finally believed her at some point.” The Oscar winner, who’s now a face of Lancôme Paris, is excited for this honor in part because of “all the girls who would see me … and feel a little more seen.”
On top of the new accolades, Lupita also signed with the top Hollywood talent agency, CAA. Signing with CAA means that she’ll be repped by some of Hollywood’s heavy hitters including Hylda Queally, who also reps Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Berenice Bejo and Noomi Rapace. Switching over to CAA also means that her stock has also significantly risen. She’s now officially running with the big dogs.
Although she did win an Oscar for 12 Years A Slave, the only movie she’s been in since then was the Non-Stop, which also starred Liam Neeson. Rumor had it that she was in the running for a role in the new Star Wars flick, but unfortunately she’s not expected to appear in that film.
Hopefully CAA will find suitable roles for Nyong’o and not let her talent go to waste.
