050814 Alexis Murphy

A Nelson County, Va., jury has found Randy Taylor, 48, guilty of first-degree murder in the commission of an abduction and abduction with intent to defile in the slaying of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy.

Murphy disappeared last August. She was last seen on surveillance footage leaving a Liberty gas station in her white Nissan Maxima behind Taylor’s camouflage truck. Authorities found Murphy’s car several days later in an Albemarle County parking lot. Blood and pieces of hair were found in Randy Taylor’s camper during the investigation.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Anthony Martin argues Taylor “lured” the teen there, killed her in a violent struggle, and disposed of the body. Murphy’s body has not been found.

Taylor faces life sentences for both charges of murder and abduction.

Horrible monster. There isn’t a lot of information here or the original news article. I wonder if she knew him and maybe that is why she went (if she was even lured). I didn’t think it was that easy for a teen to be lured, but then I gave it more thought. I can think of at least 10 ways he could have convinced her to follow him. Poor girl.

I’m confused as to why the “luring” part is so enticing. A young girl is dead, the person who did it is in jail. That word can be used to mean many a thing in these cases; maybe her car broke down and he said, under false pretenses he could help her. That would be luring, Whatever it was, it won’t change her unfortunate demise at the hands of this monster.

Someone also mentioned they heard a few other girls in that area went missing. I read that as well and heard so from a friend in that area. I hope they can reopen any of those cases (or continue to investigate) to see if he had any connection there also.

My heart goes out to the family, losing someone in such a manner is never easy to accept. Even while that is in prison, it will never, ease or erase what he did or make it better. That exchange is not an even one.

What a tragedy, she was so pretty. Maybe this sick and twisted monster will rot in prison.

It’s even more heartbreaking that this child’s body hasn’t been found. I wish Virginia had the death penalty for this demon.
