I feel like shaking some kids and yelling, “Your cell phones and other technological gadgets just aren’t that important!” and definitely not worth killing your parents over because mom and dad confiscated your ish as punishment.
According to WTKR, 16-year-old Vincent Parker told police he doused his mother, Carol, with pepper spray, stabbed her in the eyes, and beat her in the face and head with a crowbar and baseball bat “until she stopped breathing” all because his parents took his iPod and other items. A medical examiner identified 25 separate smashes and stabs to Carol Parker’s neck, face, and head.
When the father, Wayne Parker, arrived home, the 10th-grade honor student stabbed him several times and beat him with a crowbar. Parker was able to tell authorities what happened before he succumbed to his injuries.
“I just remember getting mad,” Vincent told investigators shortly after the murders, which took place a week before Christmas. “It’s all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff.”
Vincent, who has no criminal record, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in adult court. Defense attorney Emily Munn told the judge she’s going to ask the court to consider letting him serving at least part of his sentence in juvenile detention. If he’s sentenced to the maximum, he could face decades in prison.
His grandfather, Allen Taylor, hopes for a much shorter punishment.
“I want him to get some type of counseling,” Taylor says. “Help him to grow up and be an understanding man. Be sorry for what he did do. I told him to ask God to forgive him for what he did.”
