It’s been rumored for a few months now, but it’s now official. Lupita Nyong’o is joining the Star Wars: Episode VII cast!

The official Star Wars website confirmed the newest additions to the cast. Joining Nyong’o is British actress Gwendoline Christie, who currently plays Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones.

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

It’ll be interesting to see what type of character Nyong’o will be playing. But no matter what, I may have to put away my Star Trek bias to see the movie when it’s released in 2015.

I honestly dont care about star wars, but I will be seeing this film. I’m so happy for Lupita, this job will definitely be a boost to her career, even more than the Oscar. I wonder what her role will be. I hope she’s on the dark side, because bad chicks have way more fun!!

Glad that this was confirmed! I hope that she gets more than three or four lines. She looked so beautiful on the red carpet on the news today with her blue eyeshadow on.
