On the June cover of ELLE UK, Pharrell exchanges his Arby’s, er Smokey the Bear, hat for a Native-American headdress.
But to Pharrell’s credit, he has claimed Native-American heritage in the past. Yet, Kara McGrath over at Bustle still sees this as “still taking a spiritual statement and turning it into a fashion statement, which is unsettling no matter who’s wearing it.”
Oh, by the way, the photo shoot wasn’t even Native-American themed. ELLE‘s is simply continuing its “tradition of featuring cult male icons on collector’s edition covers.” Needless to say many are #nothappy with the #PharrELLE cover.
Clutchettes and Gents, do you find ELLE UK’s July issue of Pharrell wearing a Native-American headdress offensive?
