Despite Aaliyah’s family being upset about Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic and Zendaya Coleman pulling out the movie, production will resume. Daytime talk show host Wendy Williams announced on Friday that she will co-executive-produce the movie, tentatively entitled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, and Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp is cast in the starring role.

Williams vows to “get this movie right.”
“I wanna know the things you wanna know,” she says on the Friday episode of her popular talk show. “What happened with R. Kelly? What was going on with Dame Dash? What was Aaliyah’s personal life really like? How did her parents react to the R. Kelly thing, her brother, and the whole bit? So you can count on your girl.”
Well, she mighta effed it up with the Kelly curiosity.
But if all continues as planned, production will begin later this month, and Lifetime will air Aaliyah: Princess of R&B this fall.
