Last night, while many of us were sleeping, Lauryn Hill took to Twitter to express her outrage. Like J. Cole who released a tribute song to Ferguson entitled “Be Free,” Ms. Hill decided it was her time to express her frustrations on the events occurring in Missouri.
The hip-hop songstress tweeted:
An old sketch of Black Rage, done in my living room. Strange, the course of things. Peace for MO. – MLH
It seems the Grammy winner created the song some time ago. It is strange the track is very fitting for the outrage the Black community feels today. The lyrics are a great testimony to what is taking place, whether we’re discussing the police brutality in Ferguson, Missouri or New York City. Check out the second verse below:
BLACK RAGE is founded on draining and draining
Threatening your freedom to stop your complaining
Poisoning your water while saying it’s raining
Then call you mad for complaining, complaining
Old time bureaucracy drugging the youth
Listen to the track and let us know your thoughts.
In addition, check out J. Cole’s “Be Free,” if you haven’t already.
