“X Factor” finalist Simone Battle has died due to an apparent suicide.
On Friday morning, Sept. 5, law enforcement was called to the living quarters of Simon Battle, where she was found hanging in the closet.
Today, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has ruled Battle’s death a suicide. According to Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner, Battle’s boyfriend last saw her alive close to 4 a.m. Friday in their West Hollywood apartment. Nearly four hours later he found her hanging in the bedroom closet.
The autopsy was conducted on Sunday, Sept. 7th.
The 25-year-old was also a member of G.R.L. an all-girl group, founded by Pussycat Dolls member Robin Antin.
Following the unfortunate news Antin took to social media to express her sadness.
Antin posted a heartfelt message to Instagram. She said, “I‘m so beyond devastated by the loss of our beautiful Simone❤️ … Simone I will miss your smile, Your adorable laugh, Your loving spirit that you brought to all of us, The joy that you felt when you were singing, dancing, performing, laughing, and goofing around with your GRLs, and most of all the beautiful friendship and bond that tied us all together, that will forever be in my heart… How lucky we are to have had You in our lives Simone, you inspired us all, and touched fans all around the world with your sweet sweet voice and talent…. We will NEVER forget… I Love you sweet Simone Rest in Peace…@grl”
In addition, members of G.R.L., Pitbull, Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and more expressed their grief via social media.
Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart.
